ASK ALEGRA: A WORKSHOP SERIES
Education about OCD and mental health is a huge value of mine, along with providing that education to those who may not have access to specialized help. Enter: Ask Alegra, a workshop series! Join me once a month for an hour and half virtual workshop on a particular topic that I think y’all will really enjoy. The first hour is an in-depth presentation with the last 30 minutes reserved for a Q&A with me.
Do you struggle with compulsive avoidance of everyday activities (ex. driving, changing a baby’s diaper, cooking) because of OCD? Is it difficult to get through the day because of time-consuming rituals that feel so irresponsible to stop? Do you want to learn how to face fears head on in a way that makes OCD smaller and your world bigger? Are you interested in learning about values-based exposures? And how to implement exposure therapy in a consensual manner so as not to harm yourself or a client?
Do you want to dive deep into the treatment for OCD with the biggest evidence base: Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP)? If so, this is the workshop for you!
In the hour presentation, I will address:
- The science behind Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP)
- Intended outcomes of ERP (habituation and/or inhibitory learning)
- Why response prevention is just as (if not more) important than exposure work
- How to target a client’s specific obsessional fears
- The implementation of justice-oriented ERP
- The application of ERP with mental compulsions
- Building an exposure hierarchy and a response prevention hierarchy
- Consensual ERP
- And more!
This workshop is 1 hour of presentation and 30 minutes of a live Q&A.
If you cannot attend live, you can purchase a ticket and receive a copy of the workshop recording. Everyone who purchases a ticket will receive the recording.
The Zoom link will be sent to your email one hour prior to the workshop on Saturday, March 30.
