Ask Alegra workshop: Rethinking Uncertainty in OCD Treatment
$50.00
Have you been told that tolerating uncertainty is THE most effective treatment strategy for OCD? Do you have trouble tolerating uncertainty because you know that you’re not a pedophile, murderer, or sacrilegious human, even if your brain makes you doubt it? Do you want to learn how to gain trust, clarity, and certainty about who you are? Do you want to stop doubting what you know? This is the workshop for you!
Uncertainty exists in life and is relevant at times:
- “Is my partner my forever person?” – Relationship OCD
- “Will my baby be alive in the morning?” – Postpartum OCD
- “What is the meaning of life?” – Existential OCD
However, there are things in life we CAN be certain about; things that people without OCD are certain about. If someone without OCD doesn’t have to tolerate uncertainty about being a pedophile or murderer, neither does the person with OCD.
In the hour and a half presentation, we will address the following objectives:
- Identifying myths about uncertainty as it relates to OCD
- Understanding when and why accepting uncertainty can be unnecessary and harmful
- Learning how to gain trust, clarity, and certainty with OCD
- Identifying the difference between not knowing info (being uncertain) and knowing (being certain)
- Understanding the difference between response prevention (not engaging with OCD) and accepting uncertainty (that you don’t know the answer)
- And more!
The last 30 minutes of the workshop will be comprised of a Q&A where you can ask questions related to the workshop or anything else!
The workshop will be recorded to replay.
The zoom link will be sent out one hour prior to the start of the workshop.
